Separate tabs
1. What is this page for?
The Separate tabs (or Duplicated Tab) page determines whether players are permitted to open and use the lobby website in multiple browser tabs simultaneously. It is designed for administrators who want to control player browsing sessions—choosing between allowing multi-tab convenience or enforcing a single active tab to prevent concurrent action conflicts.
2. Before you start
- Required permissions: You must be granted the 'Separate tabs' permission by an administrator to access this page.
- Prerequisites:
- Align with your team on site policy regarding whether players should browse across multiple tabs freely or be restricted to one tab for security.
3. Screen overview
When you open this page, you will see the following key areas:
- Page header: Displays the page title, subtitle, and an active status badge at the top right (Many tabs or One tab).
- Audit bar (Page Audit): Displays the data version, updater name, updater type, and last update timestamp.
- Browser tabs card (Form Section): Card with a copy icon, heading Browser tabs, helper note, the Allow more than one tab switch, and descriptive behavior text.
- Action bar (Form Action Bar): Bottom bar containing the Cancel and Save buttons, which activate when you toggle the switch.
4. Search and filters
This page manages a single site-wide policy setting and does not include a search bar or filters.

6. Step by step
1. Allowing multiple tabs simultaneously
- Go to Lobby pages > Separate tabs in the left sidebar.
- In the Browser tabs card, toggle Allow more than one tab to On (Green).
- Notice the helper text updates to: "The site works in every tab the player opens."
- Click Save at the bottom right. The system displays a confirmation notification: "Saved", and the top-right badge switches to Many tabs (Green).
2. Restricting to one tab at a time
- Go to Lobby pages > Separate tabs.
- In the Browser tabs card, toggle Allow more than one tab to Off (Grey).
- Notice the helper text updates to: "One tab at a time: a second tab of the same browser shows a notice asking to reload, and only the first keeps working."
- Click Save at the bottom right. The system saves the setting and the badge updates to One tab (Grey).
3. Discarding changes
- If you toggled the switch and wish to revert before saving, click Cancel in the bottom action bar.
- The switch resets to its previously saved state.
7. Form fields and settings
| Setting / Field | Required? | What to select | Example | Constraints |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Allow more than one tab | Required | Toggle switch (On = All tabs work, Off = One tab only) | On | Applies globally to all players on the lobby |
8. Popups and dialogs
1. Version Conflict Warning (Version Conflict)
- When it opens: When you click Save but another administrator updated this setting first (error code 1005).
- What you see: A message stating "Another admin changed this first. Their setting is shown; choose again".
- What to do: Review the latest setting refreshed by the system and choose your desired toggle state again.
- Result: Clicking Save updates the setting against the latest revision.
9. Statuses and badges
| Status / Badge | Color | Meaning | Next action |
|---|---|---|---|
| Many tabs | Green | Players are allowed to open and browse the website in multiple tabs simultaneously | System operates freely; no action needed |
| One tab | Grey | Players are restricted to a single active tab per browser | Secondary tabs are blocked with a reload notice |
10. Frequently asked questions & troubleshooting
- What happens when "One tab" is active and a player opens a second tab?
- The first tab functions normally. Any secondary tab opened in the same browser displays a notice asking the player to reload, preventing duplicate requests until the other tab is closed.
- How does the system detect multiple tabs?
- Detection occurs client-side directly within the player's browser (via inter-tab communication APIs). It does not rely on server-side connection counts.
- If a player opens different browsers (e.g. Chrome and Safari), does this count as multiple tabs?
- No. Tabs in completely separate browsers or separate devices cannot communicate client-side and operate independently.
- The Save button is greyed out:
- The Save button is disabled when the switch matches the saved state. It enables as soon as you toggle the switch.
