Hit sections

1. What this page is for

The Hit sections page is used to create and manage featured game or provider rows on the lobby home page, as well as automatic "Hit" flame badges displayed over game covers throughout the site. Administrators can curate and order items manually, or define automated ranking rules based on play count, unique players, or newly arrived games, complete with custom pins and exclusion lists.

2. Before you start

  • Permissions: You must have the 'Hit and highlight games' permission granted by an administrator to view, create, edit, or delete hit sections.
  • What to prepare:
    • Decide whether you are creating a row of Games or Providers (this choice is locked after saving).
    • Decide on the configuration mode: Custom (hand-picked items) or Auto (rule-based ranking metrics).
    • Verify that games or providers to be included are active in the system.

3. Screen layout

When opened to the main list, you will see the following sections from top to bottom:

  1. Page Header: Displays the title Hit sections, description, and top action buttons: Arrange home order (links to home page layout organizer) and Add hit section.
  2. Filter Tabs: Quick status filters: All sections, Active (green), Inactive (gray), and Deleted (dark gray).
  3. Search & Filter Bar: Text input for search, with toggleable advanced filters for type (Games / Providers), mode (Custom / Auto), date ranges, and staff usernames.
  4. Data Table: Lists all hit section records, showing rules, visible item counts, on/off switches, and row action menus.
  5. Pagination Bar: Located at the bottom to navigate pages and adjust records per page.

When creating or editing:

  • Live Preview: Real-time visual rendering of the companion row as players will see it, with Thai and English language switches.
  • Main Form (Left): Title inputs, type selection (Games / Providers), mode selection (Custom / Auto), ranking criteria, and tweaking controls (pinned, excluded, provider filters).
  • Display Settings Card (Right): Status switch (Active / Inactive), Show on home switch, and Show ranking numbers switch.

10. Frequently asked questions & troubleshooting

  • Why can't I switch between "Game" and "Provider" after saving:
    • Content type determines underlying data structures and is locked upon initial creation. If you need a different type, create a new section and deactivate or delete the old one.
  • The Save button cannot be clicked (error borders or disabled):
    • Verify that Title (TH) is filled in.
    • In Custom mode: Verify that at least 1 item is selected.
    • In Auto mode: Verify that Items to show is between 1 and 50, and if "All categories" is off, at least 1 category is selected.
    • Verify that the count of Pinned items does not exceed the total Items to show.
  • The Delete button is disabled in the row menu:
    • System safety prevents deleting active sections. Turn the section switch to Inactive first, then proceed to delete.
  • Where do games in a hit section get flame badges:
    • Games qualifying for an active hit section receive flame badges on the home page, in the "Hit" tab, and in all matching category tabs automatically.
  • Section is Active, but not showing on the website:
    • Ensure Show on home is switched on.
    • Go to Lobby pages > Home page order to verify that this hit section block is active and ordered properly in your layout.
